How is the Hotel des Arts in San Francisco? And how big is that flat-screen TV in the suite?

I'm going to San Fran next year, and I'm looking at hotels so I can save up. We're doing a big meet-up there, and we'd like an affordable hotel that's not swarming with rats and roaches. I've read mixed reviews on the Hotel des Arts, and I'd like some more opinions before we choose the primary hotel for everyone to stay at.

The rooms look cute, and the prices are very reasonable. However, I've heard the walls are paper-thin, there's rats, and the garbage truck will wake you up at 4am.

If you have alternate suggestions, please keep them under $150 per night per person. We're cheap!

  1. Search here for cheap hotels

    http://www.jetsetgotravels.com

It provides search option like near a landmark etc

But beware ... cheap hotels can be trouble some times so check reviews of the hotel you are going to book.

Check the exact location of hotel from google maps.

  2. You can get cheaper hotels less than $150 check this

  3. There are many hotels in SF in your budget.

The Des Arts is in a relatively quiet location.  Of course people hear garbage trucks...you are in a city!  If noise bothers you bring earplugs.   If you've seen reviews mentioning rats, I'd probably find other options.

My favorite SF hotels are run by Joie de Vivre. Each of the hotels has its own unique style and are intimate and welcoming.   Galleria Park Hotel is in the same neighborhood.

They also have a free program for  guests.  The chance to meet with a Golden Gate Greeter, a friendly local volunteer who shares your interests, a neat way to make a new friend and get some insider information
