Ever since Gilbert, I always remember this saying "June too soon, July standby, August a must, September remember, October all over."

  1. I've never heard that saying, but it's no longer true.  The June floods of 1979 were devastating (that's when I was conceived, come to think of it!) and last year and this year, there were named storms as early as May.  Last year, I think we were having serious storms into November.

T.S. Fay didn't affect us too too much, though two people lost their lives due to flooding.  We had heavy rains last weekend but by Monday (I think), it had passed.  There was flooding and a few landslides in the Northern & Eastern ends of the island but I didn't hear of anything too bad.  The two people that died drove into a fording and the water washed their vehicle away.  Let's pray for their families.  It must be a scary way to die.
