I, am going for the Air Force, I have some paper work to fill out before I get scheduled, but as of right now my recruiter told me I would be picked up by a shuttle at my recruitment office and he did an overview of what I'll do, but based from personal experience how is it? I've already completed my ASVAB so I won't have to do it at Meps, so while everyone else tests what will I do, and after that?

  1. I actually enjoyed MEPS in NY. I was one of the very few Air Force guys while most were ARMY and Marines, so you can take some pride being one of the few. Just be patient.

  2. After reading prep for the worst's post, I have to wonder if he was in my group when I went through LA MEPS back in 1985!  LA MEPS was my introduction to the ancient military tactic of "hurry up and wait."

The MEPS experience was rather boring after the initial nervousness wore off.  It was a great place to people watch.  I remember a guy sitting over in the Army waiting area that looked just like Bob Geldof in The Wall.  I never found out if the guy made it into the Army (or if his cigarette burned his fingers).

    Good luck!

  3. sit around with a bunch of dipshits.  i was very surprised at the level of immaturity going on down there when i went.  they'll make u clear your pockets and then sit in the lobby untill they sift you out.  then you'll go in the back for your physical.  eyes, ears, blood, urine, dexterity, hernia and anal cavity then you should talk to a recruiter.  long day, dont be shocked at how many dumb asses are there, at least they arent going into the air force, mainly army and marines.  good luck,,   wear clean underwear and clean your feet before you go,  i saw guys with alien lifeforms grrowing on their feet down there.
