How is the Sturgis Rally going this year?

I used to live in South Dakota and feel kind of nostalgic the first week of August. How's the traffic, the concerts, and the Harleys?

I haven't been up to Sturgis yet this year, but I live nearby.  It seems like the numbers are way down this year compared to past years.  My kids like to count bikes as we're driving around Rapid, and they can actually count all of them this year.  Past years, there would be so many that they couldn't keep track, lol.  There are also 15 less vendors this year up there, and I hear that it's easy to find a place to park.

I'm not sure what some people are talking about because it ain't over yet... the guy that got back monday got back the day the week started... it's the 4th to the 10th officially... HOWEVER I expect numbers to be down... a week ago I could still get a room at several Holiday Inns in Rapid City. Given gas prices and how rallies have become 'trailer weeks' it's tough. For me it would have been 3000 miles round trip...10 MPG haulin' bikes at 4 bucks a gallon... you do the math.(300 gallons X $4.00 ). I show so I have to trailer.

I just got back from Sturgis on Monday.  got there last Wednesday and I can say the numbers are definitely down this year, but it made for great riding
