How is the UK going to get a football team together for the 2012 Olympics?

Question

The UK didn't enter a football team in the Beijing Olympics, just because Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England can't agree to put a team together, and they are all scared of loosing their "la di da" status with FIFA. Isn't soccer is our national sport? How can we possibly host the Olympic Games without a football team?

What wrong with the Rugby Union approach and having a British Lions team? It works OK for Rugby Football and doesn't take anything away from the Six Nations Championship.

Who can make our Football Associations see sense?

I don't understand this question, England has the greatest football league in the world (Primer League) along with La Liga (Spain). Any  player would dream at playing in Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, or Liverpool. N. Ireland, Scotland, and Wales do have football teams too they are just not too good.

We dont need to enter every sport you know. Soccer isn't the national sport of Wales, it's rugby. British lions are an ok team because Wales, \Scotland and england also have their own team so they are not taking anything away. The soccer would unless you use player who don't play for the national teams.

I doubt the UK will enter 1 team because I don't think N. Ireland, Scotland, and Wales want to share a team with England. At least that's what the people I know say, and it's not just about their "la di da" status (though they have a point since Blatter warned them about it). I think if they enter the tournament, they want to do it representing there own countries. Either way, there will almost definitely be a team representing the UK, but it may be just the English team with a different name since I think they are the only association to approve of the idea so far. But it's a long time until 2012 so they may change their minds if they see the public supporting the idea.
