  1. By putting Sudan on the Human Rights Council.

How has the U.N. helped protect anything?

  2. The UN is a useless paper tiger that just talks and talks and talks.Like they did in Rwanda and do in the the sudan.

  3. Like all things the UN should be doing,  they talk about it a lot and do d**n little to improve the situation.

  4. They do a lot diplomatically to get countries to sign various conventions on human rights. If countries sign and then violate these conventions they can be held responsible through sanctions or military action. However, the UNHRC do not have an independent enforcement army b/c all UN forces are made up of member nations' militaries.

So if people are unhappy about the UN not being able to accomplish things it is b/c their countries are not willing to provide the support for it.

  5. They're not because membership has been usurped by some of the worst offenders.  Their main purpose appears to be to make it easier to abuse human rights.

  6. Their not because their weak, they cant even call for sanctions.
