How is the abortion process carried out on someone that is 19 weeks pregnant ?

I have heard that the way an abortion is done depends on how far pregnant you are.

For example, the abortion process on someone that is 8 weeks pregnant would be completely different to a one on someone this 18 weeks pregnant.

I also heard that if you want an abortion after you are 24 weeks pregnant, you have to pay a lot of money to get it done.

How long does it take ? Do you have to stay in a hospital ? Does it hurt like giving birth does ?

  1. Daammm cant believe you

aint even ashamed to ask this!

I dnt know but I know you are going to murer a baby!!!

    think about it

  2. I was not aware that 2nd trimester abortions were available, but I see that they are.  I would imagine that you would have to pay out of pocket, and it would have to be a specialist.  In my state you can't have an abortion after 12 weeks.  I thought states were making these limits earlier do to the ethical concerns and safety.  Interesting because if you get to 20 weeks which is considered viable (chance of life), the hospital does everything to save the fetus as a neonate delivered at 20 weeks can not be a DNR (do not rescuscitate).  The sites I see do say it is low complications, but as a nurse I can't wrap myself around that idea.  The chances of uterine rupture, hemmorrhage, damaging the bladder, have to be much more increased.  A fetus this far along would be over 1 lb, have hearing, blinks, sucks thumb etc.  I would think that you would be in the hospital for a few days same as giving birth, and that it would hurt like giving birth, you may be knocked out for it idk, they don't knock you out when you have to deliver a stillbirth or when you have a first trimester abortion.  I would think that the safest thing to do would be adoption.

Jersey's links are very informative, I think that everyone should be aware of what choices they are making.

  3. what they do is inject a solution that will kill the baby and have you deliever it OR they go inside punch the baby skull with a sharp object to kill it and then let you deliever vaginally. this to me is the most horrible thing ive ever seen and why the h**l would someone wait so long to have one if they were going to have it. there have been babies born around this time that survived! i can see if the baby was dead already but that is just horrible. and yes it cost thousands of dollars to do it that late if its for a non medical/life threating reason.

  4. Yes, there are different ways they do abortions in different trimesters.  The 19th  week is in the second trimester. Dilation and Evacuation is a 2nd trimester abortion procedure.

In Dilation and Evacuation they have  to dilate your cervix. They use these rods called laminaria which are made from seaweed. This process takes 2 or 3 days.(Side note - laminaria can be removed if a woman decides not to have an abortion after they are inserted, she should go to another physician to have these removed as the abortionist will not respect your decision.) Back to the abortion technique, here comes the gruesome part: The person performing the abortion takes forceps and reaches in to the uterus and randomly grab a piece of your son or daughters body. They twist this until it rips off of your child’s body and then remove this piece. They repeat this until all that is left is your child's skull, they crush this and pull it out. I'm not sure how long the baby lives to feel the pain of losing limbs. This link has an illustration of the procedure: http://catalog.nucleusinc.com/enlargeexh...

Let's talk about the risks for you. According to one Harvard Medical School study the rate of complications in 2nd trimester abortions is up to 50 percent and higher. There are at least 13 major studies and 27 worldwide  showing that women who have an abortion increase their chance of getting breast cancer. Sterility occur in 2%-5% of all abortions. There is a 5% chance of cervical tearing, (I don't know exactly how bad that hurts, but I sure would not like to find out by experience!) If  the uterus is punctured or torn it could be necessary to have surgery to repair it. Bleeding and hemorrhaging are also possible complications. You also have to think about your mental and emotional health. The aftermath it can cause to you mentally can be very painful, and the thing about this is it may not manifest itself  for some time, which may cause some people not to realize there will be even more harmful effects later.

At 18 weeks your baby already has  fingernails, vocal chords, some hair and eyebrows. His heart has been beating for a long time. He can suck his thumb. He is getting very cute now. There are lots of place to see pictures of little one's development. He most definitely can feel pain now.

So as I hope you can see an abortion would be a very hurtful choice for you and also your baby. Obviously, if you are considering abortion, there must be something about being pregnant or having a child that you feel you can't or don't want to do. Let me tell you, there are wonderful places -- pro-life pregnancy care centers. There are very sweet welcoming people who work there and money is not an issue, pregnancy care centers just want to help you and your baby. They can help you with any issue you may have with being a mom or else refer you to someone who  can. Go to OptionLine.Org or call them at 800-395-HELP they can tell you where there is a location near you and answer any more questions you may have and they know many more facts than me. Please go ahead and give them a call before you make any decisions.

Please, for your sake, choose life for your baby. You will be so glad you did. Please let us know if you need any more details. Please don't let the abortionist take advantage of your situation and kill your baby.

I wish you and the little one all the best, mom. Let us know how your pregnancy goes.

  5. Watch this video and you may not even think of abortion again.

By the way a 24 week old baby looks like a baby just it's undeveloped.

And I have heard it's into the thousands in the later stages and performed in a day surgery - who knows how long cause it's very complex.

Also the later you are the more like likely the baby needs to be euthanize and delivered naturally, then you may see your creation you have lost and it will be hard.

I was in this situation and I'm glad I saw this video. No way will I abort! No way!

  6. i was raped by my first cousin when i when i was 15 but i didnt have an abortion... i have always been pro life, then i found myself in that situation... i gave birth to my son when i was 24 and 1/2 weeks pregnant and he was still considered a fetus. i think abortion is an excuse for many people and it is just wrong... my initial reaction was to give him up for adoption but when i took that first look at his sweet face i couldnt help it. i loved him. hes 4yrs old now and he is my world.

BUT anyway to answer you're Q yeah i know someone who had an abortion (she had 3 actually) and said it was the worst pain she had ever experienced.

  7. Before I answer, please understand that I am against abortion, I also am a councellor at a pregnancy care center.

That said.  Most of the time an abortion done in the second trimester is done while the patient is under "twilight sleep" or general anestesia.  You would not remember anything.

I have had three abortions in my life, the lives that I stole will always haunt me.  I had 2 abortions that were done within 12 weeks of conception and one done at 20 weeks.  As I was leaving the abortion clinic after the procedure, I saw a nurse inspecting an aborted fetus (could have been mine).  It was an obvious baby.  It was red and in several pieces.  This happened when I was 18, I am now 38 and it still haunts me and I imagine it always will.

I know what it is like to take a life, to give life and keep it and give life and give it away (adoption).  Let me tell you that giving life is less painful than living with the acts of abortion for the rest of your life.  It is a painful hole that can never be filled and the more you try to fill it, the deeper and darker it becomes.

My oldest daughter was supposed to be aborted.  She would have been the 4th.  I had the laminara stips put in the night before the abortion.  I was 23 weeks pregnant.  I changed my mind, I went to another doctor, had them removed.  I had a healthy baby girl a few months later.  She will be turning 18 on August 29th.  Today she and I are the best of friends, I cannot imagine my life without her.  I have told her everything about her life inside my belly.  She has learned through me that she never wants the same things to happen to her and she forgives her mother for almost ending her life.

You need to know what you are going to loose with an abortion esp. this far advanced.

  8. i agree with the person you should be ashamed to ask this question,

  9. I had an abortion at 6-7 weeks (my doc told me there was no chance to keep the child). They gave me a shot and I fell asleep, after 15 minutes - woke up. No pains, no post-abortion problems.

I think it depends on the organism a lot. Anyway, mini-abortions done by good docs are not painful. Cannot tell anything about "bigger" ones...

  10. Check out Jersey Girl's links and listen to the wisdom of those who have been there.  I don't know if you are considering such a horrific act yourself, but aboriton is an abomination.  Most women deeply regret their abortions.  This site has testimonies of women, many of whom would do anything to get their child back.  http://www.silentnomoreawareness.org/tes...

There are lots of ways to get help through a pregnancy and beyond.

Thousands of couples are waiting to adopt.

Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is right.  Abortion is devastating to both mother and child.

A baby has a heartbeat at 21 days.

  11. It is very complex, i think they inject a chemical into the babies heart which corses  something which is simular to a heart attack, then you are induced, via a drip into the back of the hand, this starts labour, once your fully dilated you give birth,( congratulations your the mother to a dead baby)

So yeah you go through a normal birth, but don,t get the delights at the end. Poor you.

  12. If you get the surgical abortion, it will take about 5-10 min.. You can get drugged so you don't feel anything except for slight cramping for about 2 hours after it is done.  If you don't want the drugs it will  feel like horrible menstrual cramps, that will fade after about 1 hour.

  13. im sure the only person hurt in this process is the baby !
