How is the alcohol content in wine determined? Some can be 3% and others 6%?

  1. the alcohol comes from the fermenting process doesnt it.......then they test it scientifically to see the %. you can get de-alcoholised wine too where they remove alcohol from it..


  2. Three and six percent wine? That isn't wine; that's grape juice. Most wines run about 12%. Three percent is even weak for a beer.

  3. In wine, the alcohol percentage is the percentage of alcohol by volume, as opposed to percentage by weight.  Most table wines range from 9% to 15%.

    The wine maker tests this during to fermentation process.  He stops the process when he has the desired amount of sugar and alcohol.  Continuing to ferment will create a higher alcohol percentage and leave less residual sugar.
