I'm writing this book, and I have a six-year-old boy character. I've never had a son or a little brother or anything, so I don't know exactly how they act. I could ask someone in person, but then they'd want to know what I'm up to and I don't want anyone to know about the book. So, my dears, does anyone have an answer?

  1. Why does this question creep me out....

  2. There's no one way, as people have said before.  Some are outgoing, some are shy.  They usually ask questions and are very curious so you can incorporate that in your book.  They also like to play with their imagination at this age.  Playing house and teacher, or pretending they are firemen,  etc is big at this age.

  3. there is no such thing as "average" behavior, some have a bubbly personality, some are shy, some are talkative, some like sports, some others are into reading, some are sweet, some just get irritated easily, etc, etc.

You could go to a school and ask for permission to see a normal day in a class full of 6 years old that would give your a better perspective of how do you like your character personality to be.

  4. Sorry, I can't help you with your book unless you are writing about a spoiled, bratty child.  THAT, is what an average 6 yr old in America is!

  5. Well, if you don't want anyone to know about the book.... you shouldn't have posted that you are writing a book on the internet.

  6. If you're still in grade-school, could you shadow the younger class at recess?  Sit with them at lunch?  Just start up a conversation with someone younger at your school?

All 6 year olds act differently just like all 12 year olds and even 30 year olds all act different!  You can base the personality off of anyone you know, just make them 6!

  7. If you donot want anyone to know about this book, get pregnant and wait when your child reaches 6 years old and write about him or her.
