I would suggest trying your luck looking for cheap tickets from Qatar Airways / Emirates / Malaysian Airlines to KLIA ( Kuala Lumpur International Airport ) and then budget airlines like Air Asia, Tiger airways, Firefly to Thailand.  I just run a check at www.malaysiaairlines.com and seems like you can get a one-way direct flight ticket from GBP 190.00.  Most likely that's the cheapest you can get.  I travelled to London a month ago in June, my direct flight return ticket to and fro London - Kuala Lumpur is RM 3860.  Approximately GBP 600.00
