I'm filing for child support (never married) but my son's father's name is on the birth certificate. I'm a single parent, my son is 11 and his dad moved in with someone else 3 yrs ago. I make enough money to get by, but independently he makes less than I do (i don't think he's married). HOW WILL THE CHILD SUPPORT AMOUNT BE DETERMINED?

  1. Since many States had problem judges who were pro-woman or pro -male, they made a schedule the judges go by to determine the amount to be paid. Whoever is requesting the support must fill out papers stating what their costs are. It also uses the wages of each party. Then it is a matter of percentages. In most cases, visitation is also addressed at this time.

  2. Both parent's incomes will be considered when figuring the amount.    Child support amount is determined by the guidelines of each state.  To find out what your state's guidelines are go here and click on your state:

    http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cse/exti...

Many states have on-line calculators or worksheets where you can estimate the amount if you know both parties income.

  3. this varies state to state.google your states child support formula.this is all posted.good luck!

  4. goes by how mcuh he makes also if he has other kids what his bills are ect..usualy about 50 dollars  a week per child..
