In Guanajuato experiences semi-dry, temperate and semi-warm weather conditions. Temperatures in the winter drop to about 7ºC (45ºF) with mild temperatures in the summer rising to 26ºC (80ºF). The months of June, July and August receive the most rainfall. The northern and eastern part of the state has a semi arid climate where evaporation exceeds precipitation. The south eastern part of the state experiences a more temperate climate which sustains the oak and pine forests, chaparral and grazing lands.

In semi-arid climates frosts occur in the winter months with the highest incidence in January. In some areas of the centre and southeast the occurance of frost is negligible. Frequent hailstorms also occur during the winter months but do not show any clear defined pattern

El clima es mexicano de altura con temperatura media promedio de 10,4°C, mínima de -3,8°C, y máxima de 45,4°C. Las primaveras son soleadas y calurosas con poca humedad. Verano agradable con lluvia usualmente por las tardes. Otoño soleado con temperaturas frias y agradables y algunas lluvias hasta los primeros días de diciembre. Inviernos frios con vientos fuertes en febrero y marzo, y Fuertes nevadas y Heladas en las Montañas. Los días más fríos son en enero y principios de febrero, con registros record de hasta -16 en la serranía.

La temporada de lluvia coincide con la temporada de ciclones en el Golfo de México. Esto es, del mes de mayo a octubre. El mes de julio es el de mayores precipitaciones pluviales. En promedio, se registran 600 mm de lluvia al año.
