I think the indigenous people started their decline when Old Man Dole first arrived on their islands.

not that this hasn't happened before in many cultures, but it's still a shame and very sad.

First of all there are NO indigenous human beings to any island. All people colonized the islands from other lands.

How about the tribes of central and south America. The indigenous people of Africa, China, India, Let's not overlook the native North American people. The Aborigines tribes of Australia. In fact most of the agriculture we think of as Hawaiian was actully introduced in the late 1800's. by European's.
