How is the money split when players are tied in golf tourments?

  1. They take the combination of all the money the players would receive if they weren't tied and then average the sum.


  2. As a practical math example...let's say that three guys tie for 2nd.  So the guy that finished below these three would finish in 5th.

    In this tournament...2nd place pays $1,000,000, 3rd pays $750,000, 4th pays $675,000.  

    The sum of these three "places" equals $2,425,000.  A three way "split" of this would come out to $808,333.33.  

    As they say...Bob's your uncle.

  3. Add up the money from the spots they would occupy and split evenly between them.

  4. If two tie for second they split second place prize money,and so on down the list.

  5. The other answers were right but I'll add this.  Dont forget if two guys, lets say tie for 2nd, the next person is 4th, not 3rd.  People get this mixed up all the time.
