How is the operation of a hot-air balloon and that of a submarine the same?

  1. The both weigh the same and are made of the same material.

    :-)


  2. They both vary their -buoyancy- in order to move up and down.  The hot air balloon does it by varying the density of the air in the balloon, and the submarine does it by varying the amount of water that's inside the hull.
