  1. The play is more about the Tartuffe = the hypocrits who use religion to cover their true face, it's a play against the 17th century bigotry. Molière could not do a satire against the divine rights of Kings, he was paid by Louis XIV, he made absolutism a reality and ended the feodality for good after Mazarin's ended la Fronde.

    It's Voltaire who really attacked the absolutism and the divine rights of the King.
