  1. Most of the times heat acts as a catalyst (booster) for a reaction between two elements increasing the speed of the reaction. Erosion is nothing but a chemical reaction and it would get a boost  if the environment tempreture increases.


  2. It depends on whether it is dry heat or wet heat:  Hot dry weather followed by cold nights (deserts) causes rocks to alternately heat and cool, and allows spalling (breaking off of a skin like an onion.)  Wet hot weather promotes chemical breakdown of minerals so hastens weathering.  In tropical areas you often get really deep weathering as a result.
