  1. 12 gauge. It gives out a pattern that is good for doves, and not as many pellets. Now a 12 gauge .870 is great for dove hunting.

  2. Best choice is 12 gauge, because you have more room for error because of the shot pattern.* Very little difference in recoil, but slightly noticeable more in the 12 gauge.*

  3. I bought a Charles Daly 12 gauge semi and a Mossberg 20 gauge pump about a year ago. I haven't shot the Charles Daly yet and I just shot the Mossberg about three days ago. I didn't notice any kick at all from the Mossberg. I will try to shoot the Charles Daly in the next day or two and let you know the difference.

I shot the Charles Daly and it has a little kick but if you hold it tight it's not bad.

  4. Once again, it doesnt matter what gauge the gun is, but rather the type of load used.

For dove hunting, it all depends on personal preference. I prefer a 12ga. but I know some that swear on a good 20ga.

Charles Daly used to be junk, but they've cleaned up their act. However, I would still be hesitant to buy one of their products.

  5. From my persomel experince any pump or bolt gun is going to shoot harder than an auto, an auto uses part of the recoil to asist the bolt to the rear in order to chamber the next round. With this in mind alot of people believe(including myself) that this power going to the rear against the bolt is taking away from the power pushing the load out of the barrel but thats me there are servel different beliefs about this subject. Be safe and have fun

  6. My boys were shooting 12ga at 10 and 12 years old and you are worried about the recoil. Grow a pair.
