How is the setting in the novel "The Colour Purple" by Alice Walker related to God?

So how is God presented through the different settings in this novel?

I just thought it was a very beautifully made movie.

it's all about redemption. everyone one who was troubled in the novel eventually found god and peace within themselves.

Good question. I suppose the heat of the Southern fields could be related to the scorching heats of Jerusalem and Galilee'  (if you want to look at it from a Christian perspective.) But I think it would be better to focus on (Nettie? Is that the sister's name?)'s African missionary camp. I think you would find more of God in their charity work there.
