  2. It is one of my favorite places on earth!  There is over 20 ski resorts within a 70 mile radius of S. Lake Tahoe, including Squaw Valley and Heavenly which is right there, downtown South Lake Tahoe.  You can fly into RENO cheap as they think you are a gambler, then drive to S. LT within 2-3 hours, plenty of other sight seeing opportunities depending on the weather, casinos, paddle wheel boat, lots of horseback riding, hiking, Yosemitie and Mammoth Mt. aren't very far either.
