  1. I have found good snorkeling right in front of our resort the last time I was there Intercontinental Presidente Resort.

We always do a snorkel excursion and the boat takes us to the best reefs.

I don't know how far you are from the Chankanaab National Park. That is another place to snorkel and swim with the dolphins. Nice to spend the day there.

Check out this website for snorkel sites in Cozumel

Cozumel is one of my favorite islands. Enjoy)

  2. well i just got certified to scuba dive there....but everything is beautiful...

**(i know this doesnt have anything to do with snorkeling) but if youre interested in marine life..i HIGHLY 100% recommend the Dolphin Discovery at Park Chankanaab (not sure of the spelling, something like that). it's the best experience ive ever had and worth the expensive cost. and afterwards...the park is a beautiful place to chill, have drinks, or eat.

  3. Fair, try the south side, just up from the Occidental Grand Cozumel..

  4. Hi,

Well you guys will have a great time you are on the north side of the island and not far from town. There are some very good snorkeling sites to enjoy around your hotel. You will have to rent a car or jeep or pay for a taxi ride to all the snorkel sites.

All the beach area in Cozumel is open to the public, the beaches are for all to enjoy. Two beach areas that come to mind are Puerto de Abrigo, Playa Azul. North of here is Punta Norte and Laguna Ciega. At the Lagoon you can rent, make sure you wheel and deal, a boat and skipper for a ride out to Pasion (Isla da la Pasion) Island.

Now for heading south for snorkeling. One place you must dive is Chankanaab National Park. This location is a private beach and sea park. I think the cost is $13.00 US for the entire day. There are a number of extra costs for food , drinks, and attractions.

The places we enjoy can be hard to find. Just south of town there is Paraiso (Paradise) Reef North, to find this spot you will have to find the Park Royal Hotel. Just across the street and to the right there is a walkway down to a Pier. You'll have to climb down to the water not bad just a few feet and enter here. Swim to your left. You will see a roped off section. This is the El Cid Hotel and the Junkyard is right there. You'll have to swim around to find the anchor and parts of an old airplane.

Just on the other side of the International Pier you'll find Paraiso (Paradise) Reef South. This is a very popular snorkeling area for the snorkeling boats that take snorkelers out for the day. Once you see the boats you are at the right place. You can swim off shore with no problem.

Next few spots are fun. Playa la Cieba, this is real close to the Hotel Fiesta Americana, the Big Red Hotel. You can't miss it. Off the main south road you'll have to make a hard right turn. This will take you to Playa la Cieba. There is very good snorkeling here and a little further down at the Fiesta Americana. Just swim out and view all the sea life. Next is Chankanaab Park. A little further south you will find Playa Corona. A little beer bar and food stop on the beach. You will have fun here as well. After this spot its find the next beach. Like I said early on all the beaches are for public use. There is a book you can purchase by lonely planet www.lonelyplanet.com about diving Cozumel it will help.

You can use the comerical boats if you like, I think one time and you have a feel for the sea life.

    Enjoy

  5. We were there this last Feb. and snorkeled from Chakanaab Park. It was really nice. Water temp is warm that time of year. There are boats you can charter yourself for a reasonable amount and they will take you to several different snorkel sights.

  6. I am not sure where the Coral Princess is, but the last time I was in Cozumel, I stayed right on the beach and in about three feet of water, I started seeing these incredible little hermit crabs. They had amazing shells and were all over this rock. It was very cool. Just swimming out off the beach I saw some really big silver fish, all kinds of little tropical ones, bottom fish, etc. It was really nice. I spent hours and unfortunately got a bad sunburn on my back! Have a great trip!
