My Question is How is the Job market for Software Jobs in UK i mean if i get enough good marks like 70-75% marks in my Masters in Computer Science ( database application developer & web developer)is there a chance for me to get a software job with good salary for starters or is the job market in Uk for Software jobs worse like there are no jobs in software at all in UK

I am an international student and dont know how things are in Uk so please advise.Iam planning on joining Bradford or Hertfordshire.

I have an option currently to choose whether to pursue my Masters Computer Science in USA or UK.

I have got admissions from small universities in USA like ITU california, NJIT.

But i received good offers of admissions from UK Universities like Hertfordshire, Bradford, Hull, Salford ,Wolverhampton etc.

I felt that Good Universities impart Good Education so i will be having a chance of gaining good knowledge rather than rushing off to USA and admitted into a small college where i might not be taught well and would need to spend lots of money to study and live in california.

I mean my opinion is that if i obtain good knowledge in software from my University it would make me competent for a job i feel

I completed my OCP certification and java programmer training.

Also i heard from some people that there are no software jobs at all in Uk and mostly jobs are management, but when i searched the net i found the salary 32k pounds /yr for java programmer or application developer equivalent to that of a worker in usa i.e like 65k $/yr

  1. To me it would really depend on where you want to live and work after and how ambitious you are. Clearly, the US has A LOT more going on where software is concerned. If you're really ambitious and see yourself as the next Bill Gates, I'd head for the US.

Unfortunately, I've never heard of the two US schools you mention. Did you apply to any mainstream places like Stanford, MIT, Berkeley or Caltech? Those are the top but there are many, many good ones.

The market for software developers is strong in the US now. Look at the list of jobs and salaries for recent grads of all the schools you are considering. $65,000 to start is what I'm seeing for those with just a BS  from an average school. Those with an MS and those who went to top schools will make more.

Also, are you guaranteed to be able to stay in the UK after school? You would pretty much be able to stay in the US but only on a temporary visa. With outsourcing of engineering and our bad economy there is some pressure to stop letting foreign engineers in. Factor that into the equation. Good luck!
