  1. florida has no surf

  2. There isn't any! Venice Beach is on the Gulf Coast,  it is like every other beach on the Gulf of Mexico, surfless most of the time. That's not to say that a good tropical depression can't whip up some good surf every now and then, but in general, the Gulf is pretty sad. I know I make Gulf Coast surfers mad when I say that, but they know it's true (and I'm sure, very frustrating. They have better patience than me). There are occasional days with ride-able surf, but they are pretty rare and are cause for much joy and excitement for the locals.

The east Coast of Florida, from Jacksonville on down to around Jupiter Beach has some great surf spots. Like most east Coast spots, summer is the worst time of year, but there are some breaks that are more consistent than others. South Florida is probably worse than the Gulf Coast, because the Bahamas interrupt the swell and wind patterns. However, with a good (NASTY) tropical depression going, you can even surf in Miami.

  3. I live in Venice and I have to amit that it is absoluetley horrible. You can only go like once a month in the spring, none in the summer (unless a Hurricane comes), but its actually OK in the winter. Nuthing like the East coast but we ride whatever we can get.

    Hope it helps ya

  4. LOL,  non existant unless there is a hurricane.  Venice is on the West Coast of Florida, the Gulf of Mexico. Basically a big lake.

Nice and calm for swimming or looking at sea shells, but you need the east coast, atlantic ocean for any consistant surf.

    Cowabunga!
