How is the title the memory keeper's daughter related to the book?

ive read it and thought it was kind of boring so maybe i skipped where it explains how the title is related or if it even explains =/

i don't really think it does have anything to do with the story.

i think that it was just saying that he kept memories of his daughter because he just gave her up because she wasn't "perfect"

but,

it was pretty boring.

so, i might have missed it too.
