  1. The warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence keep it milder than the mainland.  The average temperature is around -7C (19F) in January and 19C (67F) in July.  Expect snows to begin in November and not melt off until late April.  With an annual snowfall of about 340 cm (~134 inches or ~11 ft).  Summers can be warm but usually not terribly humid with daytime temps in the 20'sC (70'sF).  Spring and Autumn are cool and brisk but pleasant.
