Truthfully, I dont like the layout.  First I dont like the entire white banner going across the top.  It is big, ugly, and boring.  I would cut it down to the size of the text column.  Also the google ads are behind the time magazine pic your need to move all that down so it doesnt over lap.    Also I would add a side bar that contains archive posts.  Also on Firefox the chatbox at the bottom isnt centered like it is in IE.  Do you even need a chat?  wont people just post comments on your posts.

I dont want to sound harsh but people will judge a web page in just a few seconds and if they dont like the layout they will move on very quick.
