How is this magic trick performed.?

Question

a friend of mine had me choose a random card from the deck . he then rang a number from his mobile phone stored under the name "phantom"

he then handed me the phone and a voice on the other end told me what card i had chosen

im guessing that there is some number you can call that is a service and u mabey press a combination of numbers on the phone to signal a pre-recorded message.

pleas help

Years ago a similar trick was performed.

The person on the other end of the phone knows the call is coming.

When he answers he says slowly hearts diamonds spades clubs.  When he reaches the Right suit the caller says hello.

Then the person on the other end counts up cards ace two and so on. When he reaches the selected number the callers says "Tell my friend what card he selected.

Now that you know how it is done, the trick will never be special to you again.
