  1. I dont get what you mean of the sound spelling of the letter says "eo".

    its uh.

    Like

    ㄴ + ㅓ

    "nuh"

  2. Standard romanization of ㅓ is eo

but the sound is similar to thesound of o in 'lot' or 'fault'.  seems more of a short 'o'

서울 - Seo-ul (i think the uh is for phonetics purposes)

  3. it's PRONOUNCED "uh" but TRANSLATED to "eo". There's no real reason. It's like the word knee. You pronounce it "nee" but it's written "knee" just because. =)

  4. It is "eo". Many people have not been taught the correct romanization, and rather just romanize it phonetically. It's just like people writing the correct romanization Hyeon to Hyun, Jeong to Jung, etc. If you look on wikipedia, it will give you the correct romanization and pronunciation.

  5. It's pronounced like "all," without the L's, of course. ;)

And the "uh" vs. "eo" thing - it's just a difference in romanization. The vowel still sounds the same. I agree with the above poster that people might sometimes confuse "eo" as two separate syllables ("eh-oh"), so "uh" is used.

  6. -uh

    n-uh = 너

    g-uh = ê±°

    d-uh = 더

    j-uh = 저

    h-uh = 허

and so on and so forth

  7. ㅓ sounds like "uh" but it can also be "eo" too.

For example, when you say 더, meaning more, you say it like "duh" since "ㄷ" has the "d" sound.

When it's pronounced "eo" it's the still character, "ㅓ" It's just written that way for simplicity because it's hard for many people to read "eo".

For example, some peole can read it like "de-oh" which is wrong.

  8. ㅓ(어): uh

    ex: 서울 Seoul (suh-ool)
