  1. The tourists who visit Asturias are people who like rural areas, wet wheather, etc. Asturias is very different from the rest of Spain.  Asturias looks like Ireland. Here is always raining. Meadows are always green. You can listen celtic music everywhere...

I think government is trying to encourage a rural and gastronomic tourism.

    Greetings from Spain!

  2. Well, yes, Asturias is one of the greenest points in Spain (together with Galicia), but not only green hills and wood will expect you there:

Asturias is clean, well kempt and very friendly fellows.

Oviedo is a typical city in Northern Spain, where visitors can enjoy Spanish traditions as well as typical food and drinks (Cidra = cider).

Gijon is the biggest and very nice city with a beautiful medieval city centre, many shops and also situated next to the Cantabrian Sea, forms the Bay of Gijón or San Lorenzo Bay, where during summer time people come from all over Spain to relax on the beach (as temperatures don’t go as high as in Costa Brava or Andalusia).

The coast of Asturias, 345 km. long, presents a splendid and varied collection of beaches, coves and cliffs, like Estaño Beach, La Ñora Beach, Poniente / Natahoyo Beach, Peñarrubia Beach and many more.

There are also nudist beaches there.

There are also well known festivals in many locations in Asturias during the whole year, as the Jazz festival in Gijon, the well known Black Week (Film Festival), several gastronomy exhibitions, local festivals, etc.

Well, and of course the excellent food, as the region is a natural provider of fish, sea-food, meat, vegetables, fruit and cheese, all of excellent quality, fantastic hand made cheeses and of course, the cider and the excellent white wines.

Sports and active tourism is very popular in Asturias as well, you will find such a big offer: Golf, fishing, rock climbing, trekking, walking routs, horse riding, canoeing... it’s because Asturias is a natural paradise,

Guests will find many modern and luxurious hotels in the cities and on the beaches and as well high quality rural allocations in the countryside, such as country houses and country apartments, as well as the so-called hotels of the Paradores chain, which are excellent rural accommodations.

    Who comes to visit Asturias?

Well, people who have a great taste for fantastic nature and prefer active holidays to just beach & hotel resorts holidays, people who want to try something new and enjoy great authentic Spanish dishes and wines. People who want to visit real Spanish medieval cities and culture.

Independent people who rent a car and go around on their own as well as these who prefer a classic coach tour come to Asturias.

Asturias offers something for everybody and its beauty usually astonishes people.

By the way, it’s not true, that it’s always wet and raining!

I would recommend this web site: www.infoasturias.com

I hope you will visit Asturias soon!! Enjoy it!!!
