  1. im not sure exactly i just know that the more electricity we use the more pollutions that go into the atmosphere which causes damage to everything that we need to survive.

  2. Saves energy.

  3. Well the only way it is bad is through using up electricity.  If you generate your own through solar technology, wind power, or other non polluting sources, leaving your computer on 24/7 is just fine.  Otherwise, it is smart to turn it off when not in use.

Carbon dioxide is the main pollutant that harms the environment.  Most power plants take advantage of coal for generating their electricity, and with 600 coal plants, this adds up to about 1.4 million tons of coal being burned each year.  Most of these power plants (older ones with older technologies) release carbon dioxide into the air which causes global warming, and can harm plants and animals.  Some cities offer renewable energy credits to offset some of this extra carbon dioxide going into our air, which is a smart and easy way to be just a little greener.

Turning off your computer is not only smart but it saves you money in electric bills.  And I'm sure no one could argue with that.
