How is verizon's fios service?

FIOS by Verizon is excellent.!! It even has a battery back-up, so if your power goes off, you can still use the Internet, (on a laptop!) and the phone! (A wired one, not cordless.) Unfortunately, cordless phones do not work without power, so I always keep a regular 'wired' to jack one around..

people really get caught up in the advertising hype...

they claim "fastest" internet connection, however, there current fastest offering is 30/5 the same speed can be had with cable modem service...

they provide you with a UPS so your service works in the event of a power outage, however, you can purchase your own UPS and then the same becomes true for ANY service..

they provide multi-room DVR, i am unaware of any other TV provider (cable/sat) that offers this feature, but with a PC that has a tv tuner card you can build your own with myth tv, or beyond tv.

so I would say that this service is evenly matched with what the cable companies provide.

the technology is capable of so much more then they are currently offering, they are holding back so that they can add premium services and upgrades in the future, but the cable companies are also building up there networks to be able to scale up as much, or more then FiOS is capable of..

it all comes down to preference, as pricing, and offerings between FiOS and cable are pretty closely matched... which company do you hate the least..
