  1. Weathering the break down of rocks due to chemical or mechanical processes.

Erosion is the transport of that material elsewhere.

  2. Weathering is when the weather erodes rock and other earth surfaces and erosion is when anything erodes rock and other earth surfaces.

    Weathering- Rain, tornado, hurricane, wind

Erosion- rain, tornado, hurricane, wind, oceans, lakes, rivers,   avalanche, mud slide, waterfalls, and so on

  3. I am not sure they are similar but they are related.

Weathering is the break down-either mechanical or chemical-of rocks.  After weathering occurs, erosion carries the broken down material to another location.

    EDIT:

Weathering can be mechanical(physical) or chemical.

Mechanical weathering is the physical disintegration of a rock into smaller fragments, each with the same properties as the original.

    Types of mechanical weathering include:

    Frost Wedging

    Thermal Expansion and Contraction

    Mechanical Exfoliation

    Abrasion

Chemical weathering  is the process by which rocks are decomposed, dissolved or loosened by chemical processes to form residual materials.

    Types of chemical weatheing include:

    Carbonation

    Hydrolysis

    Oxidation (rusting)

    Solution Hydration

Erosion is carried out by agents of erosion which are water, wind, ice and waves.

  4. Weathering is the breakdown of rocks by mechanical, chemical and biological agents.

Transportation is the removal of the weathered material to another location. When transportation ceases deposition takes place.

The combination of weathering and transportation is the wearing away of the land surface  or erosion, Weathering is the initial stage in the process of erosion.

  5. In weathering the rocks are broken into smaller bits.

In erosin the rocks are breaken and they are also transported and deposited.

In both of them the rocks are broken .And that is how they are similar.
