  1. Wind is formed when the sun heats up the earth surfaces. Warm air rises and the cooler air (usually over water) rushes in to fill the space. Wind Direction such as North East wind, means that it is coming from that direction.

  2. Radiation and rotation of the earth

  3. Winds are created by differences in air pressure.Hot air rises, creating a low-pressure area;cold air sinks creating a high-pressure area.Air is pushed out of high-pressure areas towards low-pressure areas.

Wind direction is the direction from which the wind blows. The prevailing wind is the most frequent wind direction in an area.

  4. Wind is the flow of air. More generally, it is the flow of the gases which compose an atmosphere; since wind is not unique to Earth. Simply it occurs as air is heated by the sun and thus rises. Cool air then rushes in to occupy the area from which the hot air has now moved. It could be loosely classed as a convection current.

  5. In simple terms: Wind is the moving of air, it is formed when the sun warms the air causing it to rise, and colder air moves, to where the warm air was to take it's place.
