How is your garden growing?

If you are growing a garden, is it doing well with all the strange weather we have had this Summer? I have tons of green tomatoes, and huge butternut squash still green. My cukes were smaller than usual. My Summer squash never even got a squash. Plenty of big yellow flowers, but that's it. So, are you having the same problem? I live in Mass, and we've had rain every other day practically. So, how's your garden growing?

  1. Here in Florida...weeds are doing fine, lots of rain!

  2. not to bad, i have two tomato plants growing one in a pot and the other in a tire but the one in the pot is sort of flopping and i dont know why, my potatoes are looking great, i cant wait to dig them up. my strawberry plants are growing great since i put them in a huge pot! well a old plastic swimming pool lol my pumpkins and butternut squash are growing but i cant tell what one pumpkin and whats squash =P my spring onions are doing ok but some did die =( my normal onions are doing well and my cauliflower and lettuce that i planted a few days ago are growing nice but not big enough to go outside yet =)

and i still have sprouts and radish i want to plant but have nowhere to put them lol and i have a crab apple tree waiting to be planted.

oh and i have lots of little cucumbers on my cucumber plant =) and this is the first time i've ever grown anything... so for a newbie i'm doing great =D well i hope lol

  3. onions did good as did the carrots, corn--what the coons didnt beat me to and green beans did good also.

jalapeno peppers doing decent and bell peppers producing like crazy...the tomatoes are doing good but not as good as they should be because the weather here in kentucky is very strange this year...hot then cools down and the nights right now are in the 50s but in a few days back to 90s for day and 60s-70s for nighttime

cucumber flopped big time this year. only had 8 cucumbers this year off of 30+ plants.....lol

last year i couldnt give them away fast enough

i will remedy that this fall...going to the stock yards and loading up on manure and spread it over the garden about 3-6 inches thick then we are going to burn on top of that and let it set over winter

come spring till it all into the ground and hopefully the garden will grow better next year.....one good thing about it...i wasn't always canning at every chance i had this year which is giving me plenty of time to create more flower beds......lol

  4. it winter her in my country, so my garden  in a mess, , but it was a lovely weekend here so i was out in it tidying it up   , and mown he laws , spring here on the 1st of sept , but i do love gardening , i have roses , everywhere, lavander bushes, and shrubs  and plant annuals yearly, so hopely in a couple of months it will start blooming for the summer months ahead  , so roll on summer i say

  5. I'm in NH.  I'm a 1st time gardener so not sure if weather or me.  I only planted 1 tomato plant in pot, got 5 tomatoes that are green.  The plant broke so not sure if that's why.  Been watching my neighbor's in the area and they all have green too, except one.  My cucumber's are growing like crazy!  I do have a bee hive on my house, so pollination was good.  My potatoes are growing like mad, over 3 feet high!  I planted green peppers, but maybe too late, so they are staying inside under a grow light.  I planted scallions and they too are inside on a window and growing like weeds.  I'm in the process of starting an indoor garden for the winter.  The news did show farmers in NH are having problems with tomatoes due to all the rain and temp. fluctuations so don't feel bad.  If they can't grow, as professional farmers, then the home gardener will get the same results, right? lol

Can't wait until next spring to do it all over again!! :)

  6. My tomatoes are terrible.

My flowers are great though. I have HUGE flowers on them and tons of them.

My zucchini are terrible this year.
