I was over the limit on one credit card and on one I was late for a payment. These 2 problems made my credit go south.

It was the first time in years.

So how long will it take to get my score back?

  1. You'll find detailed information about credit in my free ebook - Credit Rescue. It's 16 chapters and 101 tips plus resources to help you. There is no email or sign up required to get it.

  2. Credit cards don't report over limit to the credit bureau.  They charge an over limit fee and might increase your interest rate.  Likewise, late payments are only reported if you are 30 days or more late.  If just a few days late, you get hit with a fee.

Have you checked your credit report (AnnualCreditReport.com) to see what's showing?  It might not be as bad as you fear.

If there are derogatory items showing on your credit file, you need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment to improve your score.

  3. I don't know how long it will take to get your credit score back up to par, but I can tell you that they do report over the limit. You should try to research your question more on MyFico.com credit boards...
