Most airlines have a 45 lineal inch maximum (heigth+width+length) for carry-on bags, you are also allowed  a personal item such as a purse or laptop bag on most flights. It can vary by airlines, check your airline's website to be sure.

I don't know the dimensions. Like how many inches by how many inches. But it can't weigh over 40 pounds.

If you take the beg you're thinking about to your airport, than they'll have a little stand that says, "Does your beg exceed this size?" and if it does, then you can't take it.
