  1. Life in the Netherlands is good. Aside from the c**p weather and being far from my family and friends it's a great place to live.

Though the country is small, it is clean, organized and VERY safe.

  2. surprisingly unhappy...you'd think with unlimited cheap weed and s*x on tap i'd be happy...but many people including myself feel depressed because we lack a purpose...yet we can never get up to do anything about it.  its too late for this 21 year old

  3. Life here is pretty good if you ask me and I agree (as always!) with the answer from Positivemindattitude!

To add to that - living here it's relaxed (compared with some countries I have visited) but well organised.  Actually the Netherlands was in the top 10 in the recent survey done on the "happiness" of citizens in Europe (sorry but article I read was in Dutch so no point me trying to link to it)

Education, Health & Welfare is of a high standard, although this is paid for by a relatively high income tax level

The downside is that it is a very small country and densely populated so you never really get the feeling of being on your own (some people like that others don't) unless you live in the (North)East of the country.  As a result housing is a major headache.  The price (renting or buying) is very high, and with the majority of jobs being in the Amsterdam <> Den Haag <> Utrecht <> Rotterdam area, then if you want to live close to your work, then you have to pay a premium for that

The roads also are very busy and at peak times it is not fun to travel on the majority of motor(high)ways.  However the public transport is of a high standard, and the good old bike is really a blessing for short journeys.

I live close to Amsterdam and it's a great city (far more than just the stereotypes).  For a captial city it is small enough to get to know well and enjoy.  Lots of charms and things to do for all ages

The weather - well that's something you can't change.  We do have good days but we also have a fair bit of rain.... but so be it, you get used to I am sure and it's no big deal....... (you appreciate the good days more then)

All in all, it's a good place to live, in my opinion!

  4. In general, it is a very good life, laid back and healthy.

You also have, in the big cities, I huge choice of entertainment, bars, clubs and restaurants.

Life is +- 20 % cheaper than in Belgium. This country is very open and the people are very open-minded about a lot of subjects and have no problem in accepting foreigners into their midst.

Last but not least : most of them do speak English.

    Hope this helps.
