  1. Leaves in rainforests are as large as possible so that they catch moisture and most of all: collect the most amount of sunlight, since the canopy blocks out around 95% of sunlight.


  2. The  temperature of an area and the intensity of sunlight affect the size and shape of the leaves in a plant.For eg. Very high temp. and high light intensity causes the desert plants to have small leaves which may even be reduced to spines to prevent large amount of transpiration.The leaves have thick cuticle and are fleshy for storing water.In places of moderate temp. and light intensity the leaves are broad to increase photosynthetic activity in these favourable conditions.In cold places the leaves are such shaped that allow the snow to slip away to avoid frosting and have reduced surface area..
