How likely can slamming a car door cause damage to a new 2007 Toyota?

It is a 2007 4Runner. I was pissed off this morning and I slammed it pretty hard while leaving the vehicle. I heard you can damage the motor or cause gears to slip or sometimes even break the window.

Since Toyotas are claimed to be so "good", do they design the glass and window frame so that the natural frequency isn't excited when idiots like myself slam the door really hard?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Probably none.

The door lock is spring load and it claws on impact, stopping any rebound.

  2. well with any car slamming the door can cause damage. but it is unlikely that the power windows was damaged, they are desinged to take a bit of abuse, but just roll the window up and down a few times and listen, the bigger proplem is that with constant slamming the door will become harder to close over time, but it is an easy fix most of the time(for my supra i just had to readjust the latch)

  3. I suppose you could damage it if you slammed it hard enough., but its unlikely.

  4. If you slam a door that is locked, you can bend the locking mechanism. Otherwise you're probably okay. I guess you should check and see if it's broke, then you'll know, right?

  5. you can do damage to the motor of the power window, and other damage because car now a days are made of plastic and you can break it easily
