  1. Tornadoes are drastically less frequent in southern PA than they are in other parts of the country such as the southeast, midwest and Plains. Looking through the records, it appears that Bedford and Blair counties have been hit by 12 tornadoes between 1950 and 2006. None of these tornadoes were stronger than F1 on the Fujita Scale (F0-F5). This means they all of them were very weak and did not cause a large amount of damage. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported with any of these twisters. The likelihood of seeing another tornado in the near future is not very high, but is always possible. I wouldn't worry about any significant tornadoes hitting the area. However, it is important to be ready for anything.

  2. 100%. at some point it will happen. but when is the question

  3. During springtime is the best chance for tornadoes but can occur in summer too.   A lot less than in Ohio for example, but they can happen.   I remember a tornado hitting the southern tier of upstate New York near Corning.
