  1. I watched them against the AllBlacks this year, and you Canadians should hold your head high, your forward pack is very good and you have a proven backline. But not in the same class as our beloved ALL BLACKS. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish behind Aussie in their pool, they" a dark horse on my opinion

  2. I could ask you , How likely is it  that " Pigs Might Fly " ?

  3. It would be an absolute shocker if they lost to Japan.  They can beat Fiji, but it could go either way.  Beating Wales is unlikely but not impossible.  Beating Australia is impossible.

  4. Not very likely.

having said that theyhave come onin leaps and bounds since the last RWC.  They put in a good first half against a weakened NZ teama few months ago and will have learnt a lot from that game.  they could beat Wales(10% chance maybe) and Fiji (25% chance) with a huge amount of luck and they stand a reasonable (50%) chance against Japan.  Forget about the wallabies game though.

all in all pretty unlikely, but anything can happen on the day!

  5. A snowballs chance in h**l!!!

They will be lucky to beat Japan, Australia are favourites from the group , Wales are in good form even though the lost to France and England, Fiji are a stronger nation then Canada..... there may be hope for the future though, teams can only get stronger through the world cup, Italy have come a long way too from being a poor nation to mounting a reasonable attempt in the 6 nations but tooks beatings for years...

  6. I'm a Canuck and would hope that it was possible but I can't see it happening, we know the Aussies will be first and then Wales and Fiji will fight for the last spot (I would say that Wales will get the second spot)

  7. Slaughtered by Wallabies and Wales; probably defeated by Fiji; will have a hard time against Japan.

Wallabies for the Webb Ellis Trophy!

  8. I don't think it's very likely that Canada will advance beyond anything but hockey.

  9. Canada is grouped with Australia, Wales, Fiji and Japan in Group B. They will have to work hard not to finish last in the group. Beating Japan is their only realistic chance of winning a game. Let alone advancing.

  10. I'd like to see them do well, but they're going to struggle in that group.

    They'll beat Japan.

They'll give Fiji a good run for their money

Wales? Anything can happen at a world cup.....

I've given them 30 pts start against Australia for a $40 bet with a Canadian guy I work with!!!!

  11. Very unlikely that Canada will advance out of this pool ,,

It is  a bit beyond them to beat Aussie and Wales let alone anyone else in the pool .

  12. I am a New Zealander, I live in Canada now and I have been involved with Rugby here for about 7 years.  I know they are developing but they are not at the level to make the Quarter Finals this year.  It's possible, but I don't think it'll happen, and here is why.

Their pool consists of Australia, Wales, Fiji and Japan.  They have already stated that they are targeting the Wales game as the game to decide their fate.

There is no way they will beat Australia.  They had an outstanding 40 minutes against the All Blacks, but every team lifts their game against NZ.  It will be harder to do that against Australia, and even if they did, they'd need to do it for 80 minutes, just to have a slight chance.  Not gonna happen.

Fiji is a game that they could win but I don't really think they are in control of that.  Fiji's form is like the French.  You never know who is going to turn up.  If it's the good Fiji, they will probably beat Canada.  If Canada wins the Wales game though, the momentum could give them a huge lift and help them win this game.

Japan, they should win this game and they regularly do beat Japan so a loss here would be a surprise.

So it all comes down to the Wales game, as they have already stated.  It is both teams first game which COULD work in their favour to catch them off guard.  Wales have played top nations in their build up, Canada have played weaker ones, I prefer Wales route, but Canada's allows them to work on their game plan.

Canada will lift their game and I know they have a lot of pride, but I don't think it will be enough.  Wales has better forwards, better backs and they also have the skills to use it all.  Canada plays like England, close to the forwards, occasionally go wide... but they don't have the strength and skill of England so they wont be as effective.

The best they can hope for is 2nd in the pool (and I will be cheering them on) but I think they will finish 4th, behind Fiji who will also be targeting the Wales game as their BIG one, and will be using the Canada game as a step towards that.

  13. not very likely
