We are considering moving to a green state, but what are the odds of it staying green? Are things improving enough that green states don't go backwards?

  1. If I were you, I'd go ahead with the move.  Homeschool friendly states seem to stay that way.  We started out homeschoolig in New Mexico, which is a very homeschool friendly state.  We had to move when my husband got a new job, and I'm so happy it was to Arizona, which is even more homeschool friendly than New Mexico.  I absolutely wouldn't live in a state that gives homeschoolers a hard time, and would move if necessary to continue homeschooling.

  2. There is no way to truly predict what will happen, but I live in a green state (Texas) and I am not concerned at all that things will change.  Homeschoolers are very vocal about asserting their rights, especially in states that have few regulations.  Stay active in local, state and national organizations to make sure you are contributing to protecting you right to homeschool.  Being in a green state is awesome!  You're making a good choice!!!

  3. There is no way to predict the future.

Homeschool unfriendly people end up in state offices, the legislature, and of course, teacher's unions, which are very powerful.

This is why it is vitally important that you join your state's homeschool association(s), keep abreast of the news, and take appropriate action.  It is also vital, no mater where you live, that you be a visable example of the wonders of homeschooling.

    Make the move.

    All the best.
