  1. People have been able to perfect their vision naturally since the early 1900's

In the early 1900's an opthalmologist(eye doctor/surgeon) by the name of Dr. William H. Bates found that occasionally a patient's vision would spontaneously improve for no apparent reason. (Most optometrists have experienced this but ignore it) Bates decided to explore this further.

He was able to watch people as they went about daily activities with a special binocular retinoscope. Retinoscopes are the tools doctors look into your eyes with and can tell if you are seeing clearly or blurry without you telling them. With a binocular retinoscope Bates was able to watch people from a distance without interfering. He found that when people were happy their vision was better. When people were stressed or uncomfortable their vision got blurry.

By learning how people with perfect vision used their eyes he could help people with blur learn how to stop using their eyes incorrectly and learn how to use their eyes in a relaxed way. He helped thousands of people improve and perfect their vision. Because he was interfering with the optometric society they kicked him out.

Because of his great success many people tried to copy him.  They did not consult with him so the best they could come up with was eye exercises(eye pushups, eye aerobics, eye yoga). Eye exercises have nothing to do with natural perfect eyesight but play on people's intuition that their vision changes and can improve. When people ask their doctor if vision can improve they can accurately and conveniently say that eye exercises don't work.

Like many diseases we are discovering that we just need to remove the interferences. Many are obtaining natural perfect eyesight by upgrading their vision software for these complicated times. They are unlearning the incorrect vision habits, reintegrating the correct vision behaviors, and undoing the damage of artificial corrections and blur.

    highly, HIGHLY unlikely.

"How likely is the development of a cure for SEVERE myopia within the next 16 years?"

    highly, HIGHLY unlikely.

i guess finding a "cure" for myopia is about as likely as finding a cure for any genetic disease...which is not very likely.  not quickly, anyway.  certainly not in the next 16 years.

  3. They already have lasik surgery.

Anyways...Having myopia is not a big deal, it's 2008-just wear glasses or contacts.  There are people with incurable cancers right now....
