How likely would I die in Iraq being a TAC-P? Is it a very dangerous combat job, or your pretty safe?

  1. You need to remember that you're being shot at and therefore it's pretty dangerous, but of course it's getting slowly more and more safe because of the great work our men and women are doing over there.

You'll be working very closely with the army and most likely be attached to an army direct combat unit such as a Ranger or Special Forces unit, and while your deployed, no your job will not be safe because you will be traveling with the army and you'll have to worry about IED'S, bullets, ambushes, and every thing that the soldiers have to worry about. Your primary mission is to call in airstrikes and advise the army on how they can put Air Force airpower to use therefore you will be in the heat of the battle.

    It said in the TACP job description link I gave you that it is a front-line combat job.

    I don't know where to find any statistics on how likely you would die but they would probably be the same as any Army combat job. Of the hundreds of thousands of troops we have had there around 4000 have died and 30,000 wounded.
