It has been 7 years since I committed a felony and I have not committed any other crimes. Is there a general amount of time that it is no longer held against you?

  1. You can check with the county and state the you reside in.. I'm not sure that they remove that type of charge, I'm not sure tho

  2. It is always on your record unless you have a pardon and get it expunged.  How much weight a prospective employer gives that conviction is up to him, but it will probably depend on the job you are applying for.

  3. They're for life...it doesn't go away unless it's expunged, and you'll need an attorney for that process.

  4. For life, or until you get it expunged...if you can.

If you have 2 felonies, you can't ever get it expunged.

  5. It's always on your record, unless you get it pardoned by Governor/President.

Even if it is expunged, it is still on your record, that just means that it does not show if an employer looks up your criminal record.

  6. Your criminal record stays in tact until you request to have it sealed. Its automatic like most people think. For felonies, you have to wait 5 years to file a petition for non-disclosure. For a misdemeanor, depending on the case, it could be up to 2 years.
