How long I can safely keep fresh eggs? Can you freeze raw eggs?

And why am I being told that I shouldnt wash my eggs before storing? Its just that I get my eggs fresh from the chicken and they are often times covered in chicken p**p. I dont feel comfortable putting that in my fridge?

Don't worry about washing them. When we had fresh chicken eggs we always washed them. I don't think you can freeze them.... but keep them for like 2 weeks at most?

with fresh eggs, you can keep them for about a month. to see if they eggs are still good, put them in a bowl of water. if they float, then they are bad.

i've never heard about freezing eggs, so i'm not sure about that one.

i have heard that by washing eggs, you shorten their freshness time. but i know if you do wash them, your supposed to do it water that is warmer than the eggs.

I don;t see a problem with washing them. I know with duck eggs the shell is porous so you need to wash them and dry them, otherwise the dirt can penetrate into the egg. So if you wash and dry them it should be fine.

Not certain how long to keep them though or about freezing them. We eat ours up regularly.

I got chickens and I always wash the eggs before I put them in the fridge. I can't imagine that supermarket eggs aren't washed as well, because every now and then there will be some poo on the egg.

You other question was how long you can keep them fresh that depends. Two weeks shouldn't be a problem. There is a simple trick to check if an egg is still fresh: put the uncooked egg in salt water. A fresh egg will sink to the bottom and an old egg will stay afloat.

You can freeze eggs, but not as a whole egg. You have to break them, puncture the yolk. You can then put the egg in a small container of some kind (ice cube mal or something like that). The egg can only be used to be fried afterwards.
