How long a day should I wear my retainer?

I just got my braces off and now I have to wear a retainer all the time...but I was wondering if I don't wear it during school, like 6 hours, will anything bad happen? I will still be wearing it like 18 hours a day! I just don't want to wear it during school...

Where yours when your watching TV,or just around the house. Especially when you go to bed. That is the best time to wear it.  It's good so you dont mistakenly loose it or throw it away in public

Your retainer will be tight when you first put it in. That is because your teeth will have moved.You may get out of the habit of wearing it at all,if you don't wear it all day. Then you risk shifting and messing up the orthodontia and that is no fun to re do it. Just wear it!
