How long a wait on the Public Hospital waiting list...Central Coast...NSW..?

My 3 yr old son has been placed on the public waiting list today on the NSW Central Coast. He will go to Gosford hospital to have the procedure to remove his tonsils ...How long will he have to wait for..

Please share your experiences ..in reguards to children in this same senario...How long did they have to wait and has anyone ever had a call from the hospital to come in asap..on the off chance to be fitted in.. ?

  1. it really all depends on what the hospital has had booked in, and yeah they can call you and tell you to come  asap


  2. A lot usually depends upon whether they consider it important for your son to have his tonsils removed or if they consider it will only improve his life to a certain extent.  The cases that are more immediate go first so you could be in for a long wait.  

    I would perhaps press the hospital for a bit more information as they may be able to give you a bit more of an idea as to how long.  They would have a rough idea as they are dealing with this waiting game all the time.

    I had a friend who had to have a hysterectomy and she waited for over a year.  She had a growth which was about the size of an orange when first diagnosed and by the time they operated it was the size of a basketball.
