  1. i think after a few days, it should be okay. but if the mother seems distressed when you handle them, wait a little longer. guinea pig babies open their eyes moments after birth and they can run around & eat solid food when theyre a few days old. this is because guinea pigs used to be wild and they had to be able to escape if a predator is nearby. so i think if they can run and eat real food, it should be okay to hold them. just be extra careful and hold them close to the floor or in your lap. if you drop a guinea pig, even a 1 ft. drop, it can break their legs.
