I am now 2wks and 3 days pp. Is it too late to start wearing my postpartum belt to get my tummy down? What kinds of exercises can I do to stimulate my stomach to go back down. After 6wks I plan on walking on my treadmill (diet changes of course) then running. Any advice?

  1. I never wore a postpartum belt, so I can't help there.

With exercise, I didn't do any until after 6 weeks and that is the general advice that is out there.  You really need to ease into it, walking is probably the best thing to start off with.  You should discuss this with you doctor and possibly with a personal trainer that has experience with women wanting to get back into shape after pregnacy and c-sections.  I went to my local gym after 3 months and one of the personal trainers there put me on a training plan specific for post-pregnancy. Good luck.

  2. Don't do any exercises until you have had your 6 week check up.  You're incision might look great from the outside, but you are still healing on the inside.  Did you know they cut you from hip bone to hip bone once they get inside?  Don't rush anything or you'll end up back in the hospital.

The postpartum belt might feel nice, but be gentle when you're wearing it.  It puts extra pressure on your weak incision.
